Dixons Carphone has been a corporate partner of Heads Together, the mental health campaign spearheaded by The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, since its launch in 2016. Heads Together aims to tackle stigma and change the conversation on mental health and fundraising for a series of innovative mental health programmes.
What has been achieved?
As a company we will most certainly continue supporting Heads Together, as it develops these programmes and targets more groups in need of specialist high-quality support.
‘Pennies’ the digital charity box
Heads Together is the main beneficiary of a customer donation option, thanks to our partnership with Pennies - the award winning fintech charity. Pennies’ digital charity box was introduced to our Carphone Warehouse stores last year and offers customers the opportunity to make a 25p charitable donation when they pay by card or digital wallet. Pennies has raised ￡75,184 so far and we are well on our way to raising ￡100,000 by August 2019.
Our long-term support of The Mix helps them to provide instant support to the three million young people who contact them every year. The Mix operate a free, confidential support service, available 24/7, 365 days a year, via phone, text, web, social media and counselling. Using preferred forms of technology personal to each individual, The Mix support the physical and mental wellbeing of young people under 25 across the UK, no matter what their issue may be.
We support with their office and helpline accommodation as well as legal support services and fundraising through employee events and initiatives. The Mix till date is also the largest single source of traffic to Shout, the lifesaving crisis text service in the UK for vulnerable young people.
In Kind Direct
We donated thousands of pounds worth of stock, generated through our Christmas marketing promotion to In Kind Direct. This charity distributes discounted consumer goods donated by manufacturers and retailers, to thousands of charities and community groups across the UK.
Community fundraising is heavily encouraged across the Group and each year, we support hundreds of causes that resonate locally. Our UK Retail colleagues have climbed, ran, cycled, dressed up and challenged themselves to raise thousands of pounds for charities personal and important to them.
Colleagues at our Sheffield Contact Centre actively raise funds for a variety of local and national causes, including the Sheffield Children’s Hospital, where the centre’s long-standing support has been nominated for the charity’s new Corporate Partnership Awards! Not only this, the team have also been shortlisted for the prestigious Contact Centre Awards, recognising their excellence and best practice – way to go!
Give Back with Grundig
For the last year, it has been our privilege to have partnered up with Grundig. We have managed to donate ￡200,000 worth of appliances to local food related charities nominated by our store colleagues. Not only does this collaboration support Grundig’s Respect Food initiative, it is also aligned with the United Nation’s Sustainability Goal for Zero Hunger. Hundreds of brand-new cooking, laundry, refrigeration or dishwashing appliances are currently being donated until 2020, with 75 units to the value of ￡36,000 already donated to local community causes since its launch.
